Quote: "The proud, stoical Faroese character has
been forged from Viking blood, Christian piety,
Scandinavian openness and an awe for the humbling
nature that’s all around. Few communities this small
are so alive with art and the Faroes’ incredibly
vibrant music scene is nothing short of astonishing.
So even if the weather proves uncooperative, this
self-assured little demi-nation is likely to
surprise and delight even the most cynical
traveller." Read more at:

Los Angeles Times > Travel Section: The Pilot Whale In
The Living Room - by Catherine Watson "The magazine (National Geographic Traveler) called them
"authentic, unspoiled and likely to remain so." But to
outsiders like me, one tradition doesn't fit the image.
Call it the whale in the living room, or the grindadrap,
the periodic harvest of long-finned pilot whales." Added
to the article are also some beautiful photos of the

Norway, the Faroe Islands may mean “sheep islands,” but
take a road trip and you'll realize there’s more to this
archipelago than its name reveals."

National Geographic Traveler Rated The Faroes:
The Most Unspoilt
Islands
in the World
In 2007
the magazine National Geographic Traveler appointed a panel of 522 travel experts
to rate 111 island communities in
the world.
The result was published in the November issue the same year.
The lost world found in the Faroe Islands
The
Faroe Islands
came out as the best, most unspoilt and most attractive
islands in the world – ahead of the Azores, Bahamas, Hawaii and
other fantastic island destinations.
But why would 522 travel experts choose these almost unknown
windswept and supposedly quite rainy islands in
the middle of nowhere as No. 1?
