A Fascinated American:
Faroe Friday
Matthew Workman - a journalist from Oregon - stumbled upon
the Faroe Islands one day by chance and his curiousity drove him
to investigate the place. His interest just grew and grew the
more information he got. It led to the creation of a blog, he
named Faroe Friday. Later Workman created the
Faroe Island Podcast with Tollakkur
Hansen and some other people living in the
Faroes. This work eventually brought him to the Faroes in the
summer of 2009 when he set foot on Faroese soil for the first
time in his life. Nowadays Workman is one of the most active and
enthusiastic Faroe Ambassadors you can find on the face of
the planet.

The Viking Way:
An Indonesian living in the Faroe Islands
Shinta, the owner of this blog, writes about her own blog:
"An exile living in the land of the vikings, life has definitely
been amusing. The Lord has blessed me with the most gentle,
loving, and caring man whose heart is as big as the mountains of
his homeland, with whom I'm sharing this adventure on earth
with. If you want to know how life in freezing Atlantic treats
this girl from the tropical land of Indonesia, grab a cup of
coffee, keep reading and enjoy!"

Anina's blog:
A blog about… about many things
... the Faroe Islands, for instance. Here is how Anina
describes herself: "Hi, I’m Anina. I grew up in Denmark – a
small country in Scandinavia.. northern europe ... The thing is
– I love nature, I love mountains, valleys and hiking in such
wilderness. There’s not much of that in Denmark! So I’ve moved
away, and settled in an even smaller and remote part of the
world – the Faroe Islands – and I love its rough climate, to
hike in the mountains and learn this “high” and very difficult
language. The reason why I live there, is that I met a wonderful
man from that country."

From the National Geographic Explorer Cruise:
Medieval Viking Field System
May 16, 2010:
Quote from Blog by David Barnes, Historian: "Having spent the night alongside in
the Faroese capital of Torshavn, a compact little town named after the Norse god
of war, we awoke early eager to explore. Boarding busses after breakfast we
spent the morning visiting the Historical Museum in town before making a journey
across the island to Vestmanna while the ship repositioned. A few guests opted
to stay on board for what promised to be a very scenic cruise."

Cruise Travel:
The National Geographic Explorer in Torshavn
May 15, 2010:
Quote from blog by Dennis Cornejo, Naturalist: "It is
morning at sea as we approach the Faeroes, calm and almost
sunny. We are being accompanied by a squadron of hopeful
fulmars: gray with a dash of white, soaring, rarely flapping,
one eye always watching, turned our way, looking out for
fish-scraps. “Sorry guys, we are not that kind of ship!”"

The Faroe Islands (May 11 – May 15, 2006)
Where In The World Are The Faroe Islands?
By Anida Yoeu Ali, May 15, 2006
"Once upon a time I said I would never travel anywhere that
was colder than Chicago. It’s just not right to leave Chicago
when it’s just warming up. But of course how often do I get to
go to a remote place like The Faroe Islands – let alone share
performance work with a completely different audience –
everything paid for and then some!"

Faroe Islands: First Impressions
"As we approached, the plane had to wait for ten minutes
while they defrosted the (super-short) runway so we could land.
That was when a group of Faroese teenagers started to sing, a
mixture of local folk songs and badly-remembered English
refrains. They burst into cheers the second the wheels touched
the runway, and I wondered whether some of them were new to
flying."

The Dream Of The:
Faroe Islands And The Sweetness Of Seclusion
"I’ve had my eye on the Faroe Island chain for what seems
like years now. You know, those weather beaten isles in the
Norwegian Sea? This small chain of 18 islands with its rolling
hills, fluffy placid sheep, and thatched roofs seems like the
perfect place to linger for a few contemplative months. To
perhaps write that book or complete some other lengthy project.
Most European backpack aficionados are well familiar with the
islands, but a surprising amount of people seem gloriously
unaware of them."

Cruise Ship Journey:
A Journey To The Faroes In Sept 2009
"One of the reasons I booked this trip was that the ship
docked at this remote group of 18 islands just below the Arctic
circle"...."They (Edit: the stacks) are Risin and Kellingin who
in mythology were an Icelandic giant and his wife who thought
the Faroes were so beautiful they tried to pull them home to
Iceland but sun up turned them to stone".... "It was cold, windy
and dramatically, beautifully wild. Hundreds of waterfalls
everywhere falling to the sea from the interior mountains."

Holiday:
A Long-awaited Holiday to the Faroe Islands!
Sebastian's blog: "Along with sheep, and by far their richest resource, they have the
North Atlantic (which happens to be one of the cleanest bodies of
water in the world). It’s positively stuffed full of fish and
whales, both of which have been farmed for hundreds of years. They
also eat seabirds, like puffins — but don’t worry, they’ve been
sustainably hunted for 300 years and there are millions of them up
there."

village of Gøta on Saturday July 25th. Stu and I decided to hire
a Faroese drummer (Brandur Jacobbsen) and make one of the most
amazing treks of our lives. I had absolutely no idea what to
