Kirkjubøur - The Old Cultural Centre

Kirjubøur is a village on southern Streymoy. It is one of the oldest villages in the Faroes. In Kirkjubøur are the old ruins of a cathedral from the 13th century and an old church from the 12th century. The old farm house is an old catholic bishop residence but has been owned by the same farmer family - the Patursson's - for 17 generations since the Reformation. Scroll further down to view more panoramic views from Kirkjubøur - also one from inside the old farm house - the "Roykstovan, which is more than 900 years old.
