Vatnsoyrar
The Village Vatnsoyrar 

Vatnsoyrar on the island of Vágar is the only village that doesn't face the sea but it does lie by the biggest lake in the Faroes called "Vatnið".

The Village Miðvágur 

In the background you can (barely) see the top of the cliff formation Trøllkonufingur - The Witch'es Finger - 313 m high.

Vestmanna
The Harbour Of Vestmanna

The village of Vestmanna lies in northern Streymoy. From there tourists can take a boat trip to the famous Vestmanna bird cliffs. 

Leynar
The Village Of Leynar

The beach of Leynar is a very beautiful beach facing westwards often visited by people from Tórshavn on a sunny summer's day.

The Sound Vestmannasund

Between the islands of Vágar and Streymoy - seen from the mountain Sornfelli facing westwards. Sornfelli is 750 m high and lies approximately in the middle fo the island Streymoy.

Sornfelli - The Mountain With The Radar Domes

There is a big cave carved into the mountain Sornfelli with a house in it and an elevator up to the radar domes on top of the mountain. This is taken from the entrance into the mountain. Standing by the radar domes on top of Sornfelli you can see almost all of the islands on a clear day and an endless rows of mountain tops.

Kaldbaksfjørður 
The Fjord Of Kaldbaksfjørður

... seen from Mjørkadalur, the military buildings in the valley of the same name underneath the mountain Sornfelli. Mjørkadalur means "the misty (or foggy) valley".

Sund
The Road By The Powerplant At Sund 

This is the main road leading from the capital Tórshavn to all the villages north of Tórshavn on the rest of the island Streymoy and the islands of Vágar, Eysturoy and the Northern islands. From around this place  there will be dug a subsea tunnel to the fjord Skálafjørður on the island Eysturoy in a few years.

The Parliament building lies by the town square Vaglið in the centre of Tórshavn, the capital.

Eystara Vág, Eastern Harbour

... and the pier Kongabrúgvin. The little ferry Ritan lands at the end of the little pier. It sails to Nólsoy several times a day.

Við Streymin
The Only Bridge Over The North Atlantic 

The Faroese like to call the bridge over the sound Streymin between the islands of Streymoy and Eysturoy "the only bridge over the North Atlantic" but some people from Scotland might argue with that where they also have bridges to islands.

Eiði
The Village Of Eiði

Eiði is the northernmost village on the island of Eysturoy.

Gjógv is a very cosy little village on northern Eysturoy.

Looking Down On Skálafjørður

... the inner part of the longest fjord in the Faroe Islands from the mountain of Støðlafjall on the island of Eysturoy. 

Runavík
The Harbour Of Runavík

The village of Runavík is one of the many villages by the fjord Skálafjørður.

The Runavík harbour is one of the best harbours in the Faroes. Many fishing wessels land here.

Fuglafjørður
The Road By Kambsdalur

Kambsdalur is a relatively new part of the village of Fuglafjørður that lies a little bit apart from the rest of the village. In Kambsdalur there is a Gymnasium (High School) and a whole new neighbourhood of private houses and apartments.

Fuglafjørður hosts big fish factories.

This webcam moves slightly from side to side - and also zooms in occasionally - so you can get an overview of the whole village of Fuglafjørður.

The Northern Islands

 
Klaksvík
The Characteristic Mountain of Klakkur

Klaksvík is the second largest town in the Faroes with it's approximately 5.000 inhabitants. Klaksvík has one of the best harbours in the Faroes and is characterized by the mountain at the entrance of the fjord. The mountain is the south end of the island Kunoy, called Klakkur from which the town got it's name Klaksvík which means "the bay of Klakkur".

From Klaksvík you have the most wonderful view to the island of Kallsoy - an island charachterized by a long and narrow row of mountains and valleys in between.

A Road To Klaksvík 

... the town where fishery and fish factories play a major role in the town life. Klaksvík also has the biggest brewery in the islands wich brews exceptionally good beer - often rewarded with 1st prize in international competitions.

Syðradalur
Southernmost Village On Kallsoy Island 

The ferry Sam sailing between Klaksvík and Syðradalur lands here. The ferry ride takes only 20 minutes. Kallsoy is absolutely worth a visit.

The Island of Sandoy

 
Skopun
The Harbour In The Village Skopun

Skopun is the first village you come to on the island of Sandoy. The ferry to Sandoy, Ternan, sails between Skopun and the harbour Gamlarætt by the village of Kirkjubøur on southern Streymoy.

Sandur
The Village Of Sandur

Sandur is the biggest village on the island of Sandoy. On the beach of Sandur there are beautiful sand dunes. It's also a good spot for surfing.

The Island of Stóra Dímun

 
Stóra Dímun
One Of The Least Accessible Islands

View from the island Stóra Dímun to Suðuroy island and Lítla Dímun, the only uninhabited island in the Faroes Only one family lives on the island of Stóra Dímun - the Dímun family - taking care of the farm on the island. In the winter the island is only accessible by helicopter.

Tvøroyri
The Village Tvøroyri

Suðuroy is the southernmost island. Tvøroyri is the biggest village on Suðuroy.

On the other arm of the fjord where Tvøroyri is, is the terminal and the quay side were the ferry to Suðuroy "Smyril" lands. 

Vágur
The Village Vágur 

Vágur is the second largest village on the island of Suðuroy.

Sumba
The Village Sumba

Sumba is the southernmost village in the Faroe Islands. The village was called Sunnbøur in former days. Sunnbøur means 'southern field'.
